Choral setting of the account of the Tower of Babel for SATB Chorus and String Ensemble.

The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
And it came to pass as they journeyed east
that they found a plain in the Land of Shinar,
and they dwelt there.
Then they said one to the other.

Come let us make brick and burn it thoroughly.
Come let us make us a city, a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven.
And let us make us a name.
Lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

Jehova came down to see the city and the tower,
which the children of men builded, and He said

Behold! They are one people!
They have one language and this is what they begin to do!

Now nothing is beyond their reach!

Come! Let us go down, and there, confound their language,
that they may not understand one another's speech.

Created by Andres Fernandez on Finale 2011 with Garritan audio units for Finale. Note: The voices are chorus samples on Ahh or Ohh. The text is not articulated in this sample. Plans are under consideration for a recording of this composition by a chorus and string ensemble.
